2024: AIR TRAFFIC IN THE CZECH SKY INCREASED BY 14 % YEAR ON YEAR

The growth of air traffic in the Czech airspace continued in 2024. In the past year, 711,216 movements were recorded in the Czech airspace compared to 621,226 in 2023.

The average daily number of movements in the Czech skies during 2024 reached 1,948 and as usual, July was the busiest month in terms of traffic, with almost 76,000 movements. The biggest customer of ANS CR in 2024 was the Irish low-cost company Ryanair.

However, traffic development in Czech airspace remains different from the European average, which has almost returned to the level of 2019. The reason is continuing impact of the war in Ukraine and, at the same time, tensions in the Middle East. These two factors continue to cause a shift of the main air traffic flows southwards.

„In 2024, we were able to safely meet all of our customer´s requirements for capacity and quality of our services. Especially during busy summer season, we delivered prescribed delay levels and were thus able to contribute to mitigating the impact of the lack of capacity in the European air traffic management system. Our company is in stable economic situation and is well prepared for 2025 in terms of staffing, capacity, and technical performance,“ added Jan Klas, CEO of Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, on the operational results for 2024.
